interviews

By extension of content creation jobs and podcasting, long-form interviewing has also featured in my work. I enjoy the challenge of being in conversation while also making sure the story is being told.

archie goodburn

I conducted an interview with British champion and Commonwealth swimmer Archie Goodburn on behalf of University of Edinburgh Sport.

The 20-minute interview delved into Archie’s inspiring journey, highlighting how he continues to excel in the pool despite facing brain cancer diagnoses.

Archie’s story has since been featured on BBC Sport, their interview with him marking a year since he was diagnosed.

My brief was to chat to Archie about a university medal he had been awarded recognising his achievements and character.

In order to move beyond the surface level story of his academic and swimming achievements, it was crucial to build the conversation so that Archie could freely talk about his disease and the impact it has had on him and those around him.

Archie was extremely articulate and honest in his answers making for a meaningful chat.

Editing the interview, I packaged it for YouTube and isolated a clip to package for Instagram Reels for the marketing of the piece.

parkrun x university of edinburgh sport

This interview with one of Holyrood Parkrun’s core members, Alex, served as promo for an event day.

In celebration of the benefits of running and volunteering at parkrun, the core team at Holyrood Parkrun, Edinburgh, invited staff at the University of Edinburgh to volunteer for one particular Parkrun day.

The objective of the interview was to elicit Alex’s story on how he joined, ran, and eventually regularly volunteered at Parkrun.

The result of Alex telling his own story to camera meant it shed light on a very simple fulfilling volunteering experience.

I packaged the footage for both website and social media formats.
